GMC is quickly adding more electric vehicles to its lineup. After the Hummer EV, GMC has plans to release an all-electric version of the Sierra. While it could have a unique name, it will likely just be called the Sierra EV. GMC will release this new electric truck as part of its 2023 lineup.
While GM has not released too many details about this new truck, we expect it will be powered by GM’s Ultium battery packs with the option of either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. It’s expected that the Sierra EV will be available with a variety of battery options to suit different driving preferences. The standard battery option is predicted to offer more than 200 miles of driving range, while the long-range option will likely top out around 400 miles.
Initially, the Sierra EV may be available only in the range-topping Denali trim. Though, other trim options will likely follow later on.
An innovative electric option that we may see on the Sierra EV is an onboard generator that can be used to power appliances or your home. This could be helpful during a weather emergency if your area loses power for a significant amount of time.
