Buick Finishes First in J.D. Power China APEAL Study

It’s no secret that Buick has become one of the most popular automotive brands in China during the past few years. But how satisfied are Chinese drivers after purchasing a Buick model? According to a new APEAL study from J.D. Power, very much so.

In fact, Buick was the highest-scoring mass-market brand in the J.D. Power China Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.

The study examined drivers’ excitement and attachment to their newly-purchased vehicles by measuring 37 different attributes, such as infotainment features, safety, and fuel economy. J.D. Power collected responses from more than 32,000 new vehicle owners from the study.

The study’s results found that Buick was the highest-ranking mass-market brand, with a total of 745 points out of a possible 1,000 points. Buick even managed to outrank popular brands like Dongfeng Nissan and FAW Toyota, which came in second-and third-place, respectively.

Individual Buick models also performed well during the study. The Buick Verano finished in first place for the midsize upper economy segment. Meanwhile, the Buick Envision obtained the first-place rank for the coveted midsize SUV segment.
